Books I Read in 2018

From personal development books to trashy beach reads, I’ve read a variety of books this year. My favorite would have to be The Woman in the Window – I couldn’t put it down! Let me know your favorite books you read in 2018 in the comments below!

  1. Journey to the Heart: Daily Meditations on the Path to Freeing Your Soul by Melody Beattie – This book has short daily meditations that always seem to speak to me each morning. I look forward to starting it again in 2019.
  2. The Sell: The Secrets of Selling Anything to Anyone by Fredrik Eklund – If you’re in sales, this book is a must!
  3. Adulting: How to Become a Grown-Up in 535 Easy(ish) Steps by Kelly Williams Brown – From finances to laundry, this book has a ton of tips and tricks to help you through these tough adult years.
  4. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan – I finally read the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy this year and it didn’t disappoint – very entertaining!
  5. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson
  6. Judgement Detox: Release the Beliefs That Hold You Back from Living A Better Life by Gabrielle Bernstein – This was the first Bernstein book I’ve read, and I can see why everyone loves Gabby. However, I prefer The Universe Has Your Back.
  7. The Universe Has Your Back: Transform Fear to Faith by Gabrielle Bernstein
  8. The Address by Fiona Davis – Two stories set a century apart in New York City’s famed Dakota residential building, this novel follows Sara and Bailey as they start their new lives in the Dakota. The romance and mystery had me on the edge of my seat.
  9. Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler – I was drawn to this book because it was made into a TV show. Unfortunately, it was not my cup of tea. None of the characters had any likable qualities, and I only finished the book in hopes that the main character would redeem herself. Spoiler alert: she does not.
  10. See Me by Nicholas Sparks – Nicholas Sparks can do no wrong in my opinion.
  11. The Actor’s Life: A Survival Guide by Jenna Fischer – This was a recommendation by a podcast I listen to. They said it was relatable even for people not in the entertainment industry, but I didn’t find this to be the case unfortunately. It was neat to read Jenna’s story of how she worked for years before breaking it big as Pam on The Office.
  12. Two Turns From Zero: Pushing to Higher Fitness Goals – Converting Them to Life Strength by Stacey Griffith – As someone who previously worked at SoulCycle and has taken Stacey’s classes before, I enjoyed learning more about her journey to OG Master Instructor.
  13. The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn – This book is fantastic! The chapters are short and end with mini cliffhangers – I promise you won’t be able to put this thriller down. I look forward to seeing it play out on the big screen in October 2019!
  14. China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan – I didn’t love this book as much as the first, but it definitely sets up the third installment of the trilogy.
  15. All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin – This novel follows two very different Nashville families as they attempt to overcome lies and scandal following a high school party.
  16. Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan – The third and final book, this one nicely wraps up the stories of Rachel, Nick, Astrid, and the rest of my favorite crazy rich Asians.
  17. My Morning Routine: How Successful People Start Every Day Inspired by Benjamin Spall & Michael Xander – I’ve been trying to perfect my morning routine recently, and this book of over sixty morning routines from creatives and CEOs gave me lots of ideas. Don’t be turned off if you’re a night owl because the book can apply to whatever your most productive hours of the day are.
  18. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne – While the main idea of this book is important, I believe it took pages and pages to discuss “the secret” when it only needed one chapter at most.
  19. Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are so You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be by Rachel Hollis – I read this as part of my most recent book club. You can read more about it here.
  20. The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts by Gary Chapman – I really enjoyed this book and learning more about my love languages, Quality Time and Words of Affirmation. I look forward to taking what I learned and applying it to strengthen my relationships with loved ones in my life in the New Year.

Happy reading!

xoxo, A
