I got the chance to visit Paris, France in 2009 after graduating college, and I jumped at the chance to return in September. This time I was in charge of the travel itinerary, so I read all the books and all the blogs! I couldn’t wait for shopping, pastries, and beautiful architecture. Below I’m sharing my travel tips for Paris, so you know what to eat, do, and see while visiting the City of Lights:
Where to Stay:
Book a room at ELIEL – the most fabulous bed & breakfast you’ll ever experience.
Good location, free WiFi, and an amazing Parisian breakfast spread – including chocolate cake! Madame Sabine will take great care of you.
What to Do:
Get lost in the Musee du Louvre and the Musee d’Orsay.
Flip through books at Shakespeare & Company.
Shop at Merci.
Picnic under the Eiffel Tower.
The Eiffel Tower sparkles for five minutes on the hour every hour starting at 8:00pm local time.
Take a day trip out to Versailles.
Versailles, located 15 miles outside of Paris, was our favorite Parisian experience. We spent 10 hours roaming the palace and grounds!
What to See:
Enjoy a stroll through Jardin des Tuileries.
Awe over the fantastic bridges along the Seine River.
Count the gargoyles at Notre Dame.
Admire the details of the Arc de Triomphe.
Where to Eat:
Grab a pink balloon and a slice of pizza at Pink Flamingo.
After ordering, they hand you a pink balloon. You find a spot along the canal and they deliver your pizza to enjoy along the water!
Grab a box of macarons from Laduree to enjoy by the Eiffel Tower.
Enjoy amazing food and conversation at Le Relais de l’Entrecote.
The only serve salad, steak, and fries!
Grab some chocolate from A la Mere de Famille and then enjoy the covered passageways.
(Pasaage Verdeau is a few feet away.)
Grab a drink at Bar Hemingway inside the Ritz Paris.
Enjoy a hot chocolate (or frozen) at Angelina.
