I had originally scheduled today’s post to be a “weekend recap” detailing my fun times at my friend’s bachelorette party in Ocean City, Maryland. It had been ages since I had taken a road trip to the beach, and I heard Ocean City was quite memorable due to it’s insane party scene. That’s not my scene at all, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from the OC. I definitely wasn’t planning to completely fall in love with this East Coast beach town though!
Growing up my family spent summer vacations in Myrtle Beach, SC and Destin, FL, so cute, beach towns hold a special place in my heart. This weekend, I discovered Ocean City has huge beaches, a fun boardwalk, and tons of things to do out of the sand! I’ll go into details about what to do in Ocean City later this week, but today I’m focusing on all the food. Here are my recommendations for where to eat in Ocean City, Maryland:
Upon arrival, we immediately walked a couple blocks to the boardwalk to pick up some salads and a pizza pie for lunch. Piezano’s Pizza did not disappoint our group of eight hungry ladies! We just ordered the usual cheese pizza with Caesar, Greek, and House salads, so I don’t have much to report on. It was fast and delicious though, so stop here if you want a quick bite along the beach!
BLU Crabhouse & Raw Bar
On Friday evening, we grabbed dinner at BLU Crabhouse & Raw Bar. We got a table in their sandy courtyard between the main restaurant and the bar. It was a perfect location to admire the gorgeous sunset! The servers even brought us some heaters for when it got a little chilly after the sun disappeared. All of the seafood on the menu sounded fantastic, but I ended up sharing the snow crab steamer pot with Nicole. The $40 meal included two pounds of snow crab legs, shrimp, clams, mussels, sausage, red potatoes, and an entire ear of corn! So. Much. Food. It was the perfect meal for any Seafood Lover. We were the last to finish and still couldn’t clean the pot!
The Fractured Prune
The Fractured Prune quickly made the list of my favorite places in the United States! I discovered it on the boardwalk during my first early morning walk while the bridal party was still sleeping on Saturday. This doughnut shop has been around since the 1970’s and currently has many locations in Ocean City. Let me tell ya – that doesn’t stop the line from forming! Each morning, I walked down to The Fractured Prune, grabbed a doughnut with milk, and enjoyed the ocean views. On Saturday, I ordered the “Peanut Butter Cup” with a peanut butter glaze topped with mini chocolate chips. On Sunday, I ordered the “Pebble Beach” with the original glaze, cinnamon sugar, and mini chocolate chips. (The Peanut Butter Cup definitely gets the award for my new Favorite Doughnut.) The best part of The Fractured Prune is that all of their cake doughnuts are served fresh and hot!
I wasn’t expecting much from Seacrets‘ lunch menu as it is better known for its bar scene (more on that later this week!), but I must admit that I was blown away by this strawberry salad I ordered! The spinach salad was topped with goat cheese, strawberries, sun-dried tomatoes, sunflower seeds, onions, and quinoa. I added some jerk chicken as well for a bit of protein. It was the perfect meal to eat while relaxing in the shade of palm trees along the water. I ate the entire thing! #HappyPlate
By Sunday, we were all craving ice cream (Can you blame us?), so we walked down the boardwalk to Dumser’s Dairyland before heading home. This ice cream shop has both soft-serve and hard ice cream, so everyone was happy! I went with a scoop of “peanut butter chocolate” in a cone. Surprisingly, this treat was made up of peanut butter ice cream with extra globs of peanut butter and chocolate chunks instead of the typical chocolate ice cream with peanut butter chips. It was yummy, but the 86* weather created a challenge. My ice cream was already melting when the server handed it to me!
There are so many more restaurants I’d love to try in Ocean City. I guess that just means I need to make another trip down there soon! Let me know your favorite beach destination and why you love it in the comments below! If you have blog posts on your travels, I’d love to read them so feel free to share the link.
Stay fit and fabulous,
