Howdy and happy FriYAY! This week just flew by because of Memorial Day on Monday. Now the countdown is on for the weekend! It’s finally feeling like summer here in New York City, so I can’t wait to enjoy it. I’m volunteering on both Saturday and Sunday again this week, but I’m also hoping to squeeze in some time in the sunshine too. What are your plans? Anyone planning to see Me Before You – an old Friday Five favorite? Let me know in the comments below!
Here’s what I’m loving this week:
National Doughnut Day: Yep, today is one of my favorite holidays – National Doughnut Day! According to the Krispy Kreme website, National Doughnut Day was created by the Salvation Army in 1938 in honor of the “Doughnut Lassies” who passed out doughnuts to soldiers during World War I – therefore popularizing the tasty treat! If you are planning to celebrate, be sure to stop by Krispy Kreme for a free doughnut of your choice and/or Dunkin Donuts for a complimentary doughnut with your purchase of a beverage. Enjoy!
Race for the White House: My April trip to Washington, D.C. cemented my new obsession with politics and our nations capital. In between reading America’s Queen: The Life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and The Highest Glass Ceiling: Women’s Quest for the American Presidency, I’ve been binge watching CNN’s original series Race for the White House. Each hour-long episode goes deep into a different presidential race – JFK vs. Nixon, Lincoln vs. Douglas, etc. The series is captivating, informative, and at times hysterical and mind-blowing. One of my favorite parts of the series? It’s produced and narrated by Mr. Frank Underwood himself – Kevin Spacey!
Bath & Body Works Candles: Bath & Body Works was having a huge Memorial Day Weekend sale which included buy any three-wick candle for $22.50 and get a second one for free. I ran there last weekend and picked up four candles – Georgia Peach (obvi!), Stress Relief, Bow Ties & Bourbon (which is surprisingly my new favorite!) and London (which smells like hot tea with lemon). That deal is over now (though some select three-wick candles are still marked down to under $12), but you can still snag some medium and mini candles on sale. Plus, you can even use their 20% off coupon (if you are on their e-mail list) for your entire purchase.
Matilda on Broadway: I attended my last Broadway show in November, so I’ve been having withdrawals recently. Nick and I decided to see Matilda on Tuesday night. I’d seen it before, but it was Nick’s first time. I’m so amazed by what those kids can do. The singing, dancing, and special effects just blew me away again!
May #PFLPhotoADay Challenge: It’s now officially June (this year is flying!) which means my #PFLPhotoADay Challenge on Instagram has come to an end. It was a lot of fun to participate in and I really enjoyed seeing everyone’s photos. Thanks for celebrating National Photograph Month with me!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Stay fit and fabulous,
