Nestled between the quiet streets of the Upper West Side (85th and Columbus Avenue to be exact), Big Bottom Biscuit Bar is now open and serving two of breakfast’s finest staples – biscuits and coffee. That’s it. That’s the entire menu. Being the southern belle that I am, I just had to check this place out during my first free weekend. (#weddingseason)
Big Bottom Biscuit Bar is adorable and picturesque. From the order-at-the-window counter (It’s part of Osteria Cotta Wine Bar which opens later in the day.) to the complimentary doggy treats for neighborhood pets, I imagine this biscuit shop will soon be featured in upcoming television shows and movies. It’s just that cute!
The menu currently includes six biscuit options. Whether you prefer sweet or savory, Big Bottom Biscuit Bar has you covered. I went with the classic butter and jam biscuit. Nick ordered their special, the Sea Biscuit, which includes house cured salmon, crème fraiche, capers, and pickled onions. He washed it down with some Stumptown Coffee cold brew.
We really enjoyed our breakfast at Big Bottom Biscuit Bar and will definitely be back! The restaurant is only four weeks old, but I hope they eventually start serving a weekend special such as a fried chicken biscuit. Hailing from California and not the South, I’m not sure if that will happen anytime soon. Overall, the service is quick, the biscuits are mouthwateringly delicious, and the shaded outdoor seating is perfect for a gorgeous summer day. Definitely check out Big Bottom Biscuit Bar if you are in the ‘hood Wednesday through Sunday mornings.
