Simple Healthy Habits

You guys know that I love me some Chobani Simply 100 (I eat a cup of the it in vanilla at least twice a week and even got my colleagues hooked on the line!), so I was excited when Chobani reached out to me to see if I’d be interested in sharing some simple ways to stay healthy with my readers as part of their “Crunch the Numbers” campaign to promote livin’ a healthy lifestyle and their new line of Simply 100 Crunch.

Stretch: Stretching is often overlooked. Whether you are a fitness fanatic or just someone who wants to stay healthy, stretching should play an important role in your life. Yoga is the perfect way to stretch and tone – all while burning 100 calories in just 20 minutes! It can help wake up your body first thing in the morning, undo damage to your body after it’s been hunched in a chair all day, and even help you relax and get ready for your nightly snooze.

Extra Steps: With the FitBit growing in popularity these days, everyone is trying to get in their extra steps. Even if you don’t own a step counter, taking extra steps each day is a great way to burn some additional calories and warm up your body. Did you know you can burn 100 calories just by walking your dog for 26 minutes or jogging for 9 minutes? Park further away. Get off the subway a stop or two early. Instead of an in-office meeting, go on a “walk-and-talk” outside. Take the stairs. Go on a fifteen minute stroll after dinner with your family. I suggest everyone try to get creative on how they can add some extra steps into their day.

Exercise On The Hour: Don’t have time to set aside 30 minutes to an hour for a sweat sesh on a busy day? How about doing some simple exercises for a few minutes each hour on the hour? (You can incorporate this into your daily routine even if you already hit the gym religiously!) Weight lifting (even if it’s your own body weight) can help you burn 100 calories in just 15 minutes and give you a nice rush of endorphins…which everyone needs when that afternoon slump comes around. Back in the day, I kept a yoga mat and a pair of light dumbbells tucked away in my office and would whip them out every hour to get in some reps. Even all that equipment isn’t necessary! Just do some pushups, squats, or lunges around the office. I doubt your colleagues will mind. They might even join you!

Just Dance: Sometimes there is just no time for the gym and work is too insane to get some squats in on the hour. So, when all else fails, have a dance party! Find a great station on Pandora or Spotify (Personally, I’m all about those 80’s and 90’s jams!) and get your groove on. Dancing around your kitchen for just 20 minutes burns 100 calories and will slap a smile on your face!

All About The Snacks: Sometimes meal prep can be overwhelming. Even making a 30-minute meal can seem like an impossible task when you’re exhausted after a long day. (Did you know you burn 100 calories just by cooking for 34 minutes?!) I totally get it, but the one thing I must recommend is to always plan and prep your snacks in advance. It can be easy to make healthy choices at meal time, but snacking is a different story. If hunger strikes and you aren’t prepared, it can go downhill quickly especially if you go for those unhealthy munchies in your office’s kitchen! I love chopped veggies, hard-boiled eggs, and the Chobani Simply 100 line. (Vanilla is my go-to!) These Greek yogurts have 100 calories, no artificial sweeteners, and they are packed with protein (almost double the grams of protein than there are grams of sugar). The new Crunch products have all the same goodness with some added crunch, of course! My favorite is the Strawberry Chocolate Truffle (obvi!). My entire neighborhood must love these products too because they keep selling out quickly at my local grocery store. There were only two left when I went to purchase some last weekend. I’m just glad my neighbors are keeping some healthy snacks on hand!

What are some simple ways you stay healthy each day? Share them in the comments below! I’d love to incorporate new tricks and tips into my daily routine.

Stay fit and fabulous,
