Horses. Golf. Barbie’s Dream House. What makes miniature things so awesome?
On Sunday, I made Tasty’s Mini Cinnamon Roll Bites for breakfast. They turned out well though I’d say the pie crust makes them a little dry compared to regular fluffy and gooey cinnamon rolls. Having said that, the icing and a tall glass of milk help balance that out! Here is the recipe if you are interested in making them yourself:
refrigerated pie crust
powdered sugar (1 cup recommended)
milk (1 tsp. recommended)
First, roll out the pie crust. Cut off the sides to make a rectangle or square.
Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon all over the dough. Tips: 1) I recommend mixing these two ingredients together before sprinkling on the dough. This will ensure a more even mix all over. 2) I lightly dusted the dough with cinnamon as the Tasty video showed, but I’ll be adding a lot more next time as mine weren’t as flavorful as I was expecting. 3) Use less sugar (if any) on the dough as the icing is very sweet.
Roll the dough up. Cut into bites about half an inch thick.
Bake at 350° F/180° C for 10 minutes. Tip: Even though the pie crust packaging said to bake it at 400° F, 350° F was the perfect temperature for these bites/my oven.
While the mini cinnamon rolls are baking, make the icing. Combine powdered sugar and milk in a bowl until all of the clumps disappear. Combine more powdered sugar or milk depending on the consistency you desire.
Dip and enjoy!
While these are a little sweet for an everyday breakfast, I think they are fun for a special occasion or party. Next time, I will place the bite-sized rolls on a plate, pour the icing all over them, and serve them as yummy cinnamon roll nachos!
