Wednesday evening was the Lolë White Tour event in New York City. Lolë is a fitness/lifestyle brand from Montreal, Canada that encourages people to “live out loud everyday”. This worldwide tour brought thousands of people (wearing white as a way to represent peace) together to practice yoga. It began under the Eiffel Tower earlier this summer and ends in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 7th. I was lucky to attend such a fantastic event!
As I arrived, a crowd of people gathered at the entrance to take pictures in the FIJI Water photo booth with friends and to check out the racks at the Lolë pop-up shop. I decided to skip that fun in order to grab a spot as close to the front as I could find. Upon entering the Great Lawn in Central Park, there were neatly placed bright yellow yoga mats and gift bags as far as the eye could see!
I plopped my stuff down and rolled out my mat. Since New York City heat is no joke, I started hydrating…
…and admiring this genius invention…
…and taking pre-yoga #savasanaselfies…
And then the yoga session finally began, and it was truly amazing! It was the most gorgeous evening – not a cloud in the sky. Surprisingly, we couldn’t hear the normal New York City distractions such as traffic, yelling, or sirens. It was perfectly serene. And the best part? Check out that skyline view:
Before and after yoga (when I was just chilling in corpse pose obvi), Ingrid Michaelson played some of her beautiful songs for us (Her song, “Home”, is featured in the video above). I didn’t know who she was before Wednesday night, but many attendees came just to watch her perform. After a quick Wikipedia stalk sesh, I now know she sings “Girls Chase Boys” and many other songs that have been featured on Grey’s Anatomy.
At dusk, FIJI Water turned our water bottles into glow sticks – perfect for any outdoor concert!
Though this Lolë White Tour event took place in one of the busiest and loudest cities in the United States, it was oddly peaceful and relaxing. I also enjoyed just being outside on the grass! It was exactly what I needed to get me over that mid-week hump.
