Earlier this week, I was lucky enough to attend the launch party of Karena Dawn and Katrina Scott’s new book, Tone It Up: 28 Days to Fit, Fierce, & Fabulous. Their book gives readers a tiny look into Karena and Katrina’s fitness journeys while helping the readers improve their own lives. Karena and Katrina decided to create Tone It Up, a series of cooking and fitness videos available for free on YouTube, back in 2009. Since then, they’ve gotten over 28 million views on YouTube, created a hit Nutrition Plan, and gotten their own show on Bravo! I’ve followed along with their journey for about five years now, and while we’ve communicated through social media I’ve never actually had the opportunity to meet these California girls…until this week!
I arrived at Oakley on Fifth Avenue at 4:30PM to grab a spot in line. Surprisingly, compared to book signings I’ve been to for Lauren Conrad or Lea Michele, this line wasn’t too insanely long. Having said that, I still waited in line for almost two hours before I even got inside the store! Thankfully, I was able to meet some pretty cool, fitness-lovin’ ladies while waiting.
Once inside, we were welcomed with tasty (and of course, healthy!) treats which I’m sure were loaded with Perfect Fit Protein, Karena and Katrina’s organic, plant-based protein free of sugar, soy, dairy, lactose, cholesterol, wheat, gluten, corn, and allergens! (Say that five times fast!) I grabbed a brownie but saved it in my lunchbox for later. I can’t be having gunk all up in my grill before meeting two of the most beautiful women on the planet!
Karena and Katrina were just as sweet and gorgeous as they appear online! They greeted everyone as if we were all just BFFs meeting for a sweat sesh and juices.
Even Kat’s husband, Brian, was there capturing all the fun on film. Kat and Brian are so adorable together, no?!
After meeting these beach babes, I grabbed a bottle of Core Natural water and a glass of champagne. I stayed for a few minutes longer to chat with my new friends and to witness the excitement of other Tone It Up team members getting to meet their trainers for the first time too.
Getting to meet Karena and Katrina truly inspired and motivated me. These were just average women with a huge dream of helping others achieve healthy, happy lives. When starting out, I’m sure they never could have even imagined the success that would come in these last five years. I’d love to follow in their footsteps in some way, even if it’s just making sure I personally stay happy and healthy and do the best I can every single day.
There are still a few more chances to meet K & K. You can check them out on their Tone It Up Tour throughout the next few days:
Stay fit and fabulous,
