I know I’m pushing it with this one since it’s almost the next weekend, but it’s been a crazy week. Please forgive me…
On Friday, the boyfriend and I were both craving burgers, so we headed over to Big Daddy’s on West 91st. With the unusual menu, the fun decor, and Trivial Pursuit cards on every table, Big Daddy’s might be one of my new favorite burger joints in New York. We had cheeseburgers, tater tots, and a chocolate milk shake. After dinner, we started Netflix’s new series, Daredevil. I’m only halfway through the season, but I already recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good action show.
On Saturday, we made a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, oatmeal, and fruit…and then watched more episodes of Daredevil. Darn you, Netflix! Later in the afternoon, we headed down to the Meatpacking District for my first visit to Chelsea Market. Chelsea Market is an indoor shopping center at the south end of the High Line. It has lots of cute shops and restaurants. Nick and I walked around for a bit before stopping to eat at mokbar, a Koren style ramen bar. For appetizers, we ordered sweet potato chips drizzled with honey and sprinkled with red pepper flakes as well as pork belly filled ho’ cakes.
For our main course, we both ordered ramen which was another first for me!
We couldn’t leave without checking out Doughnuttery for some fresh powdered and cinnamon sugar doughnuts. These baby doughnuts were so delicious that they didn’t even make it home with us…except in our bellies!
On Sunday, Nick and I met my friends, Steve and Katie, at City Hall Park to walk the Brooklyn Bridge (a first for the three of them!). The weather was absolutely gorgeous last weekend, and I’m hoping it marked the end of that wretched winter! While walking the bridge was nice, our destination was Smorgasborg, a seasonal food market located in Brooklyn. Thankfully, we arrived early to beat the main crowd. I filled up on cheese curds, sweet rice with mango and chicken, chipotle ranch fries, macarons, ramen burgers, and mango tea.
(I rocked my new Cinderella tee from Lauren Conrad’s Disney-inspired Kohl’s collection. Obsessed!)
We saved the infamous ramen burger, a beef patty served between two ramen noodle “buns”. It was all extremely delicious, but I’m surprised they didn’t have to roll us out of there a la Violet Beauregard in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when we left…
After stuffing my face with various forms of naughty (yet delicious!) foods all weekend, I needed the Tone It Up Bikini Series in my life. Thankfully, the healthy eating and exercise routine (soon-to-be lifestyle!) started on Monday and I’ve been rocking it ever since then. (I’ll be posting my weekly update on Sunday as promised.) My college friends, Lauren and Jessica, arrive this morning so keep a look out for a recap of more weekend adventures next week. The fun continues!
Stay fit and fabulous (but enjoy a food festival every once in a while!),
