The last few days have been so busy that this post went from a weekend recap on Monday to a whole week’s worth of recapping today! Not only have I been sick for days, but I also started my new job (and left my old one) this week. Check out what I’ve been up to via my Instagram photos below!:
My friend, Elyse, came to visit the Big Apple from Georgia. It’s been three months since I last saw her, so we had a lot to catch up on. We made our way to the Museum of Modern Art which helped me cross off part of #133 on my bucket list (I still need to hit up the Guggenheim and the Whitney museums.)! This might be my favorite NYC museum to date – it has van Gogh, Monet, Warhol, Magritte, and more. Plus, the museum’s garden is a great place to relax, eat, drink, and admire the outdoor statues. It’s like a secret garden in the middle of the city!
For dinner, we went to the Hurricane Club. The Hurricane Club is pretty much a tropical oasis in the middle of Manhattan. I love it for it’s sushi, atmosphere, and desserts. It’s a great place to get drinks with friends and to share some sushi rolls. If you ever visit, you must order the Samoan dessert through. It’s a mixture of coconut, caramel, and angel food cake under a chocolate arch. It’s $19, but it just might be the best thing I’ve ever tasted…and I’ve sampled many a dessert!
After dinner, we took the party to 230 Fifth. The weather up North has been extremely warm so far this fall (not that I’m complaining!). While 230 Fifth has red robes for chilly weather, we didn’t even need them. This is definitely a great spot for late night drinks. I went here for brunch a few weeks ago, and while the views are gorgeous during the day, I wasn’t too impressed with the food. I’m still on the hunt for the best rooftop bar/restaurant in NYC though. Any suggestions?
Monday was my last day working for SoulCycle. While I’m excited to start my new adventure, I’m really sad to be leaving such a great company and the amazing friends I’ve met through working there. I had a “going away ride” Monday evening, and my fellow Georgia Peach, Penn, went big with the decorations! She had pink balloons and streamers, lots of chocolate candy, Nerd rope (my favorite!), a pink feather boa, and a glittery pink hat. She always goes all out for our celebrations. She needs to be a party planner!
My friend, Lance, made a kickass playlist for my ride! You must take his class if he lands on a SoulCycle schedule at a studio near you. His love for music and SoulCycle is seriously so contagious that you can’t help but smile and have fun with him. His classes truly are dance parties on a bike. Check him out!
Tuesday evening I headed into the city to celebrate my friend, Abby, turning 26! She had her party at Gaslight in the Meatpacking District. I’d never been there before, but I loved the chill atmosphere, good drinks, great music, and the amazing people watching opportunities. We had a wonderful time! Speaking of birthdays – mine is in four months. I should probably start planning, right?!
On Thursday, I headed back into the city (I should probably just move there, no?) with friends to see The Naked and Famous perform at Terminal 5. We kicked off the night with dinner and drinks at Reunion Surf Bar in Hell’s Kitchen. I wasn’t sure what to expect while walking into this underground tiki hut, but the Surfer Girl cocktail (vodka, OJ, and Orange Crush) and the Shortrib Banh Mi sandwich (Vietnamese braised beef shortrib with kimchi, cilantro, and Sriracha mayo) were unbelievable! As for the concert, The Naked and Famous put on a great show. If you need a new song to add to your party playlist for this weekend, check out their song Young Blood. It’s from 2010, but I still love it. Let me know what you think!
While I have a three day weekend before I jump head first into my new job next week, I have zero plans this weekend. I’ll probably blog and watch Hocus Pocus (my mom sent me a Halloween care package!). What are your plans? Let me know in the comments below!
Stay fit and fabulous,
