This weekend I participated in the SEAK Foundation’s 2013 Sports Bra Challenge. The SEAK Foundation is a non-profit organization that encourages women to be proud of their own bodies. It promotes fitness as a way to gain confidence. It has the SEAK Builds Confidence Project which works with public and private schools to create a custom fitness program for each school so the schools’ students get the most out of their fitness experience. Also, the SEAK Foundation will host the SEAK Builds Confidence Retreat in 2014. This will be a week-long program for women ages 16-22 years old who deal or have dealt with eating disorders or some sort of negative body image issues. The Sports Bra Challenge is a way for the SEAK Foundation to raise money for these wonderful projects. In addition, money raised from the Sports Bra Challenge also benefits City of Hope’s Positive Image Center – a place where patients can learn how to minimize the cosmetic side effects of illness or medical treatments such as hair loss.
