A few weeks ago I grabbed lunch with Erin (fellow FitFluential blogger at Girl Gone Veggie) at BAR in New Haven, CT (restaurant review coming soon!). It was delicious! I’m always inspired my Erin’s healthy food choices. She recently decided to become a vegetarian (hence the title of her blog), and she always seems really knowledgeable on foods and why they are beneficial to our bodies.
We were catching up on life because we haven’t seen each other since late October. She told me she recently made some delicious recipes using 30-calorie Silk Pure Almondmilk. She went on to tell me that a bunch of FitFluential Ambassadors participated in re-creating their favorite recipes with 30-calorie Silk Pure Almondmilk, and the recipes are going to be featured on Silk’s Facebook page. I was immediately interested in this because I normally just use Silk Pure Almondmilk in my cereal (except for their Dark Chocolate almondmilk I drink by the glass!).
For those that aren’t familiar with Silk Pure Almondmilk, it is made from natural California almonds. The almonds are toasted, ground, and mixed with filtered water, vitamins, minerals, and a bit of natural flavor. A glass of this stuff has it’s benefits! It has 50% more calcium than dairy milk. Plus, it has no cholesterol or saturated fat. How do you like them apples…I mean almonds?!

Personally, I like mixing Silk Pure Almondmilk into other things such as cereal and oatmeal, but I’m not very creative (I wish I was!). Thankfully, Silk reached out to nutrition and fitness bloggers to create healthy recipes for people like me! Silk will be posting 30 recipes total, and the first 8 are already up on their Facebook page. I like that the first 8 recipes are varied from smoothies to hot chocolate to breakfast foods. I can’t wait to try the Cinnamon Raisin Quinoa from Eating Bird Food. It doesn’t call for many ingredients, but it does incorporate two items I’d love to cook with but don’t really know what to do with – quinoa and chia seeds. As you can tell I’m a lost cause without recipes…
Be sure to check back with Silk’s Facebook page for new recipes each week. You can also receive a coupon for $1 OFF just by “liking” their page. I might do a personal challenge in the coming weeks and see what new recipe I can come up with. Hmm… Let me know which recipes you are excited to try in the comments below OR if you have created your own recipe I’d love to have it!
Stay fit and fabulous,
A

Aw you are so sweet! I had so much fun at BAR with you. I’ll be in NYC on the 29th and 30th if you’re free at all to hang out. I’m still figuring out the exact times. That quinoa looks amazing!
