I can’t believe that tomorrow begins the month of February. We are only five weeks into the year, and 2013 has already been filled with many highs and lows for me. In the month of January, I took eight tiring flights across the country, I dealt with the loss of a parent, and I kicked butt during my first full marathon! It has definitely been an emotional roller coaster.
In addition to personal life craziness, my professional life is rocking! After a month of training in NY, the SoulCycle Greenwich location is now up and running after it’s January 12th grand opening! I’m so in love with the company, the environment, and the people I get to interact with each day. In December, I decided to give up a potential life as a law school student to see where my new job at SoulCycle could lead me. While I might think otherwise when my alarm goes off at 4am some mornings, I think this was a really good decision for me! While tiring, I’ve been trying to work as much as possible which means some days I’m around the studio from 6am to 6pm…and loving it! When I’m not working, I am usually sleeping (one of the reasons why I’ve been slacking in the blogging department this month – sorry!)
Another reason I love working at SoulCycle is being able to take advantage of jumping into classes and trying new instructors (I’ve hit up the Union Square and TriBeCa studios for some classes too.). I’ve been taking classes about four times a week since I ran my full marathon, and I’ve introduced three friends to it as well. I love that each class includes a full body work out, so I don’t have to worry about doing cardio and then hitting the gym later to do some strength training. The runDisney Princess Half Marathon is in 24 days though, so I need to figure out a training schedule for that. It’s hard finding a balance for everything, but staying physically fit will help my mental/emotional well-being as well.
Other than that, I’ve just been trying to
survive enjoy my first New England winter and have some good, relaxing fun with friends. So far, I am pretty much done crossing off my Winter Goals list even though I have until March to complete it. I’ve also been doing pretty well with my New Year’s resolutions list. The only one I’m having trouble with is shutting electronics off an hour before bed. There have been many nights (including last night) where I pass out in the middle of a texting conversation. I wasn’t kidding about being busy and tired!
Even though 2013 is already flying by, I’m excited for February to begin tomorrow for many reasons. It is my birthday month (yes, I celebrate for the whole month)! All I want to do for my birthday is grab food from Southern Hospitality in the city and see Die Hard 5: A Good Day to Die Hard and Safe Haven. If I can do that then I will be a happy birthday girl! I’m also excited to complete my 4th runDisney Princess Half Marathon at the end of the month with friends and family. The (hopefully) warm weather down there won’t hurt either! Do you have any fun February plans? Let me know in the comments below!
Stay fit and fabulous,
