My friend Jessica requested that I do an apartment tour post, so she can picture where I am up north. Check it out here if you missed it. In addition, I want to do a Stamford post, so my friends and family can see where I’ve been hanging out. If you don’t care about my whereabouts for the last month, then check out this post for fun places to visit while in Stamford. This list is mostly restaurants/bars, but I have a lot more exploring to do (follow up post soon, I’m sure)! I definitely recommend Stamford if you plan to travel up North because it is close proximity to everything you could want – ocean, hiking trails, Greenwich, NYC, etc.

I love this Italian restaurant! Not only is there a lot of outside seating, but the menu is endless – from pizza to pasta to paninis. I ordered the Farfalle al Salmone which was bow tie pasta with smoked salmon. I would probably name this spot the number one place to people watch on Bedford Street.

I went to Lucky’s one night for a chocolate shake. While this place also includes a nice outdoor patio, we sat at the counter. I love the 1950’s vibe this place has! It is similar to a Johnny Rocket’s if you’ve ever visited that chain. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you which is better since I only ordered a shake. The milkshakes were delicious though and I loved how they played Pleasantville on tv behind the counter – but maybe I am a little biased toward Reese Witherspoon and Paul Walker?

I went to sushi at this place the other night. Sushi is sushi to me, so I can’t really compare and contrast it to other places I’ve been. It was really delicious though and they gave me a cherry with my Shirley Temple (you would think every place would…), so I was a happy camper and would definitely eat here again!

I’ve had Spanish tapas before, but I’ve never tried Italian tapas until I came here. It is actually really delicious! First, I ordered a Skinny Colada which tasted similar to a Pineapple Willie (rum and pineapple juice), but I’m sure the ingredients were different. For dinner, we ordered crispy cauliflower, Tuscan tuna tartare, goat cheese cakes, and Brussels sprouts. For dessert, we had a cannoli which I always love. (I wanted to try their cannoli dip, but it didn’t have chocolate chips in it. The horror!)

This restaurant is a chain, so you might have one in your area. It has become my dad’s favorite restaurant, so we have eaten here twice in the month I’ve been here. The food is really delicious though! The first time, I had grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and green beans. The second visit, I had lobster bisque, crab legs, a baked potato, and asparagus. I shared the second meal with my dad and the restaurant split up everything for us which was really nice. I also recommend the Sharkfin Pie – ice cream, peanuts, fudge, peanut butter and an Oreo crust! Yum! I haven’t figured it out yet, but some of the meals come with a free mini dessert. I have yet to order one of those though.

I went to Tigin’s for my first night out in Stamford and had a great time – even though the bartenders picked on me for ordering a Dirty Shirley. (They are pink! How can you not love them?!) It reminded me of Fado’s in Atlanta where my friends and I would hang out (minus the awesome rooftop patio!). The bartenders all have cute Irish accents too, but sorry ladies, at least one of them appeared to be married. The best part? While finding the Tigpin website to link to my blog, I discovered that Tigin IS a Fado’s! They share the same website. How funny is that?! Now I like this place even more – a little bit of Atlanta in Stamford. LOVE :o)

I’ve been to Lola’s twice – once for dinner and once while out on the town. Both visits were great experiences. I really recommend their white sangria. I had that during both visits – I hope it isn’t just a summer special. For dinner, I had the lobster enchiladas. They were so yummy that I cannot wait to go back to order them again! If you ever make your way there, I recommend a table by the front for people watching. Plus, if it is nice out, the restaurant will open up the front glass wall.

My family and I went here for one of my dad’s birthday dinners. It has live music, it’s right on the water, and it has delicious seafood. It definitely reminds me of Savannah/Tybee in GA. It sits in a harbor, so boats can ride up right to the restaurant! I ordered the crab shells – shell pasta with lobster, crab meat, scallops, and shrimp. So good! Do you see a pattern with all the seafood I’m eating up here? A bonus of living on the water!

While this isn’t a restaurant obviously, one of my favorite things about Stamford is the fiber glass horses all around town. Atlanta has “buckheads” and Athens has bulldogs. I even worked on a committee to bring fiber glass eagles to the city of Statesboro during undergrad, but the project fell through. The horses are all really different from one dressed like Julius Caesar to another decked out in red, white, and blue. I can’t decide which one is my favorite, but I do love the one outside the library designed like book ends and the black, white, and pink horse (although it needs some rhinestones…let’s be honest!).
Thanks for letting me show you my favorite places (so far!) around Stamford, CT! Which would would you like to try? Or, if you have been here before, leave me some recommendations of things to do around here. I’m always down for trying new things.
Stay fit and fabulous,
A
