Do you love travel and fitness as much as I do? If so, then I have the perfect vacation for you – Zephyr Adventures. I discovered Zephyr Adventures during the Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference earlier this summer. They were the ones that planned and hosted such an amazing conference for us. During the hike up the Royal Arch trail in Colorado, I got to talk with Zephyr owner and president, Allan Wright. I didn’t know much about Zephyr Adventures at the time, but I was instantly intrigued. Allan told me about all the places Zephyr groups have visited, the places they want to explore in the future, and some of the fun things they’ve done to stay active while learning more about the countries and cultures. Hiking, biking and skating through Spain, Canada, or Italy? It sounds amazing!
According to their website, each travel group has about 20 people ranging from 10-76 years old. Can’t find anyone that is as adventurous as you to travel with? 40% of the travel group participants are usually riding solo. Zephyr will either pair you with a roommate or get you a free single room if they cannot find you a roommate. The trips are almost all-inclusive – flights are not part of the package since people come from all around the world to participate. Mountain biking, kayaking, horseback riding and river rafting equipment is included, but roller blades, regular bicycles, and sleeping bags are not.
The main thing I like about Zephyr Adventures is that it encourages it’s participants to learn about the countries they visit. It tries to stay away from the normal touristy sights – instead they stay in centrally located inns, visit wineries/authentic restaurants, and spend time at local farmer’s markets to learn about the different cultures.
Interested? Below are the upcoming trips Zephyr Adventures plans to take in 2012 and 2013. You can browse the trip options on their website by activities, food/wine/beer tours, or private/public. They have so many different options, I’m sure there is something everyone can enjoy:
I’d love to go on any one of their trips since I haven’t ventured to these places yet (I’ve taught about all of them though!), but Peru, Chile/Argentina and Tibet stand out the most to me. I need to add these to my bucket list! Can I just mention that the people at Zephyr Adventures have probably the coolest job ever – they all work together virtually from all over the USA and then meet up to go on these trips every so often. I would do the work for free if I could travel the world and blog about it. #dreamjob
What do you think about Zephyr Adventures? Would you ever go on one? Would you bring a buddy or go solo? Let me know in the comments below!
Stay fit and fabulous,
