I am currently eating a veggie and cheese platter while watching The Lying Game finale after a three mile run…relaxing. My Internet is finally working, so I wanted to blog! This weekend, HWMNBN and I took a last minute trip up to the great state of Tennessee. My dad and Nancy had plans to attend the UT vs. LSU football game on Saturday and had two extra tickets. We woke up super early Saturday morning, stopped by Dunkin Donuts (I definitely recommend their hot chocolate and breakfast sandwiches. I get egg and cheese on a croissant. Yum!), and hit the road. It took us a little over three hours to reach Knoxville, TN.
My dad and Nancy were staying at a hotel that happened to have a shuttle bus to the game. It was very handy because we didn’t have to park, but taking a boat to the game is definitely the best means of transportation I assume. (Those that drove their boats up to the stadium didn’t have to sit in any traffic on the way home.) I think that’s too cool! The game was fun because we had good seats and the stadium atmosphere is always addicting. UT did end up losing to LSU though, but that was expected with how high LSU is ranked and because of the recent injuries to some of the main UT players.
After the game, HWMNBN and I headed down to Chattanooga, TN to visit his friend from Georgia Tech, Ben. We didn’t end up arriving until 10:30pm because of game traffic and I felt sick, but Saturday night was still a lot of fun! Ben lives in a cool area of town, which I would compare to Virginia Highlands in Atlanta- lots of restaurants, shops and artsy stores. We were able to walk from his house to the bar, North Shore – as a strange cat that even crossed major streets with us followed us around. North Shore (I would link it, but the website is broken.) had a pretty cool crowd of people- great for people watching. HWMNBN and I walked around Chattanooga for a bit too – Ben suggested walking over the pedestrian bridge, which actually had a great view. After we left the bar, we stopped by Texaco and grabbed some hot chocolate for the stroll home. (I am loving the fall weather!) I must admit that it was actually quite delicious- we give it two thumbs up and I’m pretty much a hot chocolate connoisseur if I do say so myself (reference photo below). On the way back to Ben’s, HWMNBN and I just talked, laughed and discussed the use of prayer at college football games, you know – the usual. ;o)
|I’ve tested hot chocolates world wide. Here I am at the royal palace in Sweden drinking some cocoa…it was quite yummy and came with a pink marshmallow! (The hair is an ode to Pippy Longstocking, a famous Swedish character.)|
In the morning, Ben made us a super delicious breakfast – eggs, pancakes, bacon, orange juice, coffee, and cinnamon buns. Jealous? He is quite the host. We all just talked and laughed about the previous night. Good times! Thanks for letting us stay with you, Ben! We had a blast hanging out and Chattanooga is such a pretty city especially in the fall.
Overall, the weekend in Tennessee was a great success. I can tell I definitely needed it mentally. Did you do anything fun this weekend? Comment below if you did! Tomorrow I will post the next part of the “10 Day You Challenge”, so check back then!
