|HWMNBN and I before the 5K!|
A few weeks ago I completed the Kaiser Permanente 5K in downtown Atlanta. It started at Turner Field, winded through downtown Atlanta and ended back at Turner Field. I have participated in this race the past two years with my mom and the Georgia State team. This year, my mom decided to start an FDIC team (where she works) and be team captain!
The Turner Field parking lots are transformed with tons of tents for each company. The companies have food, drinks, messages, etc for their employees and their families. It is a really fun event!
My goal this year was to run the 3.1 miles in under 30 minutes. With my training, I was always around 31 minutes, so I didn’t think I would make it. My official time was 30:19! Ugh, so close! Next time I won’t be walking up some of that darn hill on Courtland Street!
Although Lily has put a damper on my training for future races, I am determined to run the Tinkerbell and Princess half marathons in under 3 hours. There is really no excuse not to accomplish this goal since that leaves enough time for 12 minute miles and at least 30 minutes to take pictures with all of the characters. I just need to find time to train after work and taking care of Lily! I am about to start the Jeff Galloway training program on October 4! I’ll be sure to do a post on this in a few days.
